Daily Design - Day 115

April 26, 2010

My goal has always been to have a variety of products, and a range of price points so that everyone can find something they want. A while back I got a request for a custom order, which lead me to learn a new binding technique: coptic stitch. This is a beautiful exposed spine binding, allows for many more pages, and lays flat when opened..all great things. It takes a considerably longer time to create though. Before Christmas I made up a large batch of these for Christmas presents, but since then I have only made a handful. This means I have very little of these made. With so much to do for my show this weekend, it has been hard to dedicate time to a book that takes about 5x longer than my other products. However, I know that the time investment is worth it. So tonight, I sat down and created one of these, and man I am rusty! It took even longer than I expected, but man oh man was it worth it. This thing is so pretty! It is one of my favorite prints, and my first coptic stitch notebook made with lined paper. 4-26-10_coptic
